A few days ago when I started to think about what I wanted to write about, the word hummingbird popped into my head. I thought it was a bit random as I hadn’t been talking about them or seen any TV with them on. Me being me decided to follow my nose and find out all about them and how this could relate to you and I.
At first glance it brings great joy to anyone watching it. The way it moves and its agility for such a small bird gives us the sense of being able to be strong despite being so very small.
I think the same could be said for all of us. We underestimate just how much courage, guts and determination we actually possess, so perhaps there is a lot to learn from observing this beautiful bird.
The hummingbird can fly forwards, backwards, side to side and even upside down. If we relate this to our own human life’s, we as people go back and forth in time, revisiting the past and then the future, taking side steps and also have life experiences that literally turn us on our heads.
For me this bird is a spiritual bird and one that has come into my life. I haven’t had much, joy or been very creative for quite a while. I believe that this little bird is showing me that I have the ability to go it alone, to be determined in moving forward and to start to create a new life for myself.
The hummingbird is a symbol of resurrection. On cold nights this bird becomes almost lifeless, but the following day as the sun rises it comes to life again. It teaches us that sometimes things in life do die, whether that be someone close, or perhaps a chapter, or even a relationship in our life. The important thing is it is never the end. As this tiny bird moves it wings it appears to create a figure of 8 which has been linked to the infinity symbol. This symbol has no beginning or end, it is just continuous like our life’s.
We all have the ability to find inner strength, I know sometimes, life can be daunting and we become lost and that’s when the Hummingbird appears to help.
So I say thank you little bird for coming into my life.
